The World Race

The World Race is an incredible 11 country mission adventure I'll be taking part in from July 2011-May 2012.  This is my chance to both initiate change and be changed myself.  We will be serving in several different capacities, some of which might be construction and other physical labor, teaching english, working in orphanages, evangelism and befriending women caught in the sex trade.  It will be both incredible and life changing.

So how is it possible?
Well I'm working my butt off for the months leading up to the race to save and contribute as much money as possible, but my primary means of support is through fundraising.  In total I need to raise $15,500.  Yikes!  That's a HUGE chunk of change!  So, I will be doing several tangible fundraisers over the next few months, but a great portion will need to come from donations.  From people that beleive we CAN have an impact but maybe can't get out there to do the work themselves.  If you would want to support me in any way visit my World Race blog (below) to see how :)

Our itenerary was announced and here's where we're going:
Peru
Bolivia
Ecuador
Eastern Europe (2 countries TBD)
South Africa
Mozambique
Swaziland
Thailand
Cambodia
Vietnam

Wait, How will you be living?

So yes, I will essentially be camping for 11 months. I said this was an adventure right? So good equipment is necessary to have the year go as smooth as possible. I've looked through our "Packing List" and have researched all of the items, looking for the best quality for the best price.

Some of the most IMPORTANT and most EXPENSIVE items are:

Large backpack (70-80 liters) (I  GOT AN AMZAZING DEAL ON A KELTY PACK AT CABELAS. PRAISE!)
Mummy Bag (35 degrees or colder)(I've been looking at one by Marmot...)
sleeping pad
Two Person free standing tent (with rainfly, footprint and is less than 5 lbs)
Day Pack
Needless to say any help acquiring these items I would be super grateful for. Like
I said I've researched it a lot and I've created a registry at REI for some of the items as well as some of the smaller items I need. Here is the link if you would like to check it out.
